Dr. Manelic Mejía

Dr. Manelic Mejía López is an Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon graduated from Ivo Pitanguy Institute, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was formed by the hand of the doctor Ivo Pitanguy, considered the father of Modern Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Manelic Mejía López was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. With a family made up entirely of doctors, it is natural for him to fall in love with medicine at a very young age. His father, renowned Cardiologist Dr. Manuel Onésimo Mejía, his mother Dr. Lidia López, a prominent gynecologist, and his brothers Dr. Eliman Mejía López, radiologist and Dr. Eliany Mejía López, Cardiologist.

In 2005 he received the title of Doctor of Medicine with honors (Cum Laude) from the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), In Santo Domingo. In 2007 he received his first knowledge in Surgery, during his internship at the Department of General Surgery of the General Hospital of the Plaza de la Salud. In the operating rooms of this outstanding hospital, he began to acquire his experience in the different subspecialties of General Surgery, and it was there, where his inclination for Plastic Surgery was born.

In 2009, upon completing his internship, he was accepted into the General Surgery service at the Santa Casa da Misericordia Hospital do Rio de Janeiro, and moved to Brazil to obtain his Postgraduate Degree in General Surgery.

In 2011 he entered the prestigious Ivo Pitanguy Institute in Rio de Janeiro, to carry out his Postgraduate Degree in Plastic Surgery, where he had the opportunity to enrich himself with the experience and training of the institute's professors, recognized for their excellence worldwide. In addition, he was able to perfect his techniques due to the large volume of cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries performed during his training.

Dr. Manelic Mejía López returned to the country in 2015 where he is currently a member of the Society of Plastic Surgery of the Dominican Republic (SODOCIPRE) Y (AEXPI) Association of former students of Professor Pitanguy.
